ADIPEX - A PERFECT
SUPPLEMENT FOR WEIGHT LOSS
“I'm fat, but
I'm thin inside. Has it ever struck you that
there's a thin man inside every fat man?”
– George Orwell
Obesity is life threatening
according to the U.S. Centers for Disease
Control and Prevention (CDC), which recently
ranked obesity as the number one health threat
facing America. Slowly but surely the world
is waking up to this global threat which is
scaling epidemic proportions at the rate of
noughts.
The doctors worldwide prescribe
a strict dietary regimen along with grueling
exercise sessions to control and reduce the
body mass. However, in cases where BMI index
crosses 30, the health experts supplement
the diet program and exercise with diet pills.
Some short-term clinical
trials have proved that patients with adult
obesity who are instructed in dietary management
and treated with "anorectic" drugs
lose more weight on an average than those
treated with placebo and diet.
ADIPEX-P?
is a sympathomimetic amine with pharmacologic
activity similar to the prototype drugs of
this class used in obesity, the amphetamines.
This class of drugs is commonly known as "anorectics"
or "anorexigenics." Manufactured
by Gate Pharmaceuticals, Adipex-P is the brand
name of generic drug Phentermine Hydrochloride.
It has not been established that the role
of such drugs in treating obesity is primarily
that of appetite suppressant. Other central
nervous system actions or metabolic effects
may also be involved.
Why Adipex?
Adipex is prescribed for short-term use (generally
for a few weeks) as part of an overall weight
reduction program that also includes dieting,
exercise, and counseling. The drug is for
use only by excessively overweight individuals.
Why not Adipex?
Adipex is not prescribed if you are sensitive
to an allergic reaction to phentermine hydrochloride
or other drugs that stimulate the nervous
system. Adipex is also not meant for the patients
with hardening of arteries, symptoms of heart
or blood vessel disease, an overactive thyroid
gland, the eye condition known as glaucoma,
or high blood pressure.
Precautions
Adipex is habit forming. The withdrawal symptoms
may occur if you stop taking it suddenly after
several weeks of continuous use. Talk to your
doctor about stopping this medication gradually.
If you miss a dose, skip
the missed dose completely. Then take the
next dose at the regularly scheduled time.
Store at room temperature.
Adipex – Side
Effects
Some of the commonly known side effects of
Adipex include –
• changes in sex drive, impotence
• constipation, diarrhea
• dizziness, headache
• dry mouth, unpleasant taste
• feelings of depression or elation
• high blood pressure, increased heart
rate
• inability to fall or stay asleep,
restlessness, tremors
• over-stimulation
This drug can cause a rare
but potentially fatal condition called primary
pulmonary hypertension. The warning signs
include chest pain, shortness of breath, fainting
spells, or swollen ankles.
This drug may affect your
ability to perform potentially hazardous activities.
Therefore, you must be extremely careful while
driving a car or operating some machinery.
If you continually take too
much of any appetite suppressant it can cause
severe skin disorders, a pronounced inability
to fall or stay asleep, irritability, hyperactivity,
and personality changes.
An overdose of Adipex can
be fatal. If overdose is suspected, immediately
seek the medical advice.
